MY WORK

Through my own healing journey, I am keenly aware of how I have both suffered and inflicted harm as a result of historical and intergenerational trauma. Healing trauma effects passed down through my lineage and sharing this healing wisdom in community for the purpose of universal healing is my inspiration for creating Soul-to-Soul healing as both theory and praxis. I am honored to stand on the shoulders of my ancestors and to walk in the spirit of so many brilliant, courageous, Black women scholars, activists, and practitioners who paved the way for me to be here--Phyllis Wheatly, Alice Walker, Dr. Maya Angelou, Dr. Angela Davis, Dr. Patricia Hill Collins, Dr. Cynthia B. Dillard, Dr. Venus Evans-Winters, Dr. Annette Williams, Dr. M. Shawn Copeland, and Juris Doctor, Kimberly Crenshaw and Dororthy Roberts, just to name. These women’s work, spirit, and presence inspire and nurture me.

Dr. Kimberly J.’s life’s mission is to create sacred spaces that empower others to heal from within through education and embodied spiritual technologies. She established Journey to Wholeness Center, a holistic healing wellness center, and is now launching Journey Healing Institute, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing innovative, transformative research, educational programs, and practical spiritual tools and resources to heal and transform the embodied physical, spiritual, and psychological effects of historical and intergenerational trauma.

Dr. Kimberly J. connects her work to ancient spiritual traditions and traditional healing practices by studying indigenous cultures and their traditional spiritual healing practices. She emphasizes the importance of reclaiming cultural, indigenous, ancestral, earth-based, embodied, and energetic practices for personal, familial, communal, and global healing and evolution. Dr. Kimberly J. teaches, coaches, and heals through programs she has developed to educate and empower individuals and communities to heal from within. In addition, she is an adjunct professor at the California Institute of Integral Studies and the author of several articles, a book chapter, and a study, “Soul-to-Soul Healing: A Phenomenological Study on Reclaiming and Reimagining Embodied Spiritualities to Heal Historical and Intergenerational Trauma in Black Women.”
